Definition: Serial - a story or play appearing in regular installments
Come join the serial revolution!
Every second Sunday from September to May Heller Theatre Company presents, SECOND SUNDAY SERIALS!
5 serialized scripts are performed each month, 3 of which are the audience picks from the previous month and 2 new ones.
Playwrights cast their shows, actors perform with scripts in hand and the audience then selects the top 3 to advance to the next month. Do YOU have what it takes to stay in the game until May or at least until your play is finished?
Did we mention that Serials have cereal? We do… and drinks… and tons of fun!
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Submissions must use the Dramatist Guild format.
2. Scripts are to be no longer than 5-8 pages. It’s not necessary to submit 8 pages but 10 minutes is the absolute maximum!
3. We will not accept sketches or screenplays.
4. Use MINIMAL stage directions.
5. No narrators. However, you may have someone read your minimal stage directions.
6. We encourage you to end each episode with a cliff hanger. Audiences love them and they help scripts get voted forward!
7. Keep scenes economical actors-wise, no more than 4-5 characters or it starts to get crowded.
