Our Leadership

Our fearless leaders and advisors are essential to the success of Heller Theatre Co. as we continue to make the transition from a publicly funded city program to a self-sustaining non-profit organization.


Susan Apker, Board President – Susan has been an active member of the Heller Council for the past seven years and last served as President of the Council during the move from Heller Park to Henthorne PAC.  Susan has extensive background in professional and community theatre having worked in staff positions such as company manager and as community liaison, among others.

Charles Whitson, Board Vice President

George Romero, Production Manager – George has been involved with the Heller Council in some capacity for several years. She is also a freelance writer and social media specialist who has participated as a volunteer for Safe Place, Tulsa Pride, Theatre Tulsa, and Tulsa Latino Theatre Company, just to name a few.

Julie Reinke, Secretary – Julie has worked with Heller Council for over 3 years. During that time she has served as an event coordinator, interim treasurer and Vice President. While not an actor herself, she is a big fan and supporter of the theatrical arts, especially community theatre.

Ron Friedberg,  Treasurer – Ron is currently the Coordinator of Purchasing at Tulsa Public Schools. He was a founding member of the Broken Arrow Community Playhouse where he served on the board at various times as vice-president and treasurer. He was also on the board at Theatre Tulsa, as well as serving as vice-president and president of the Heller Council. Ron also held office on several other non-profit boards.

Kelley Friedberg,  Programming Coordinator – Kelley is the Senior Project Coordinator for multiple petroleum engineering research consortia at the University of Tulsa. She served in the office of secretary for Theatre Tulsa and the Heller Council for multiple terms, as well as chairing various committees.

Jenny Clyde,  Volunteer Coordinator – Jenny has a long history of service to Heller Theatre, as well as many other companies, and currently coordinates all art openings and receptions for Heller Council.  Her background in education has taught her how to wrangle large amounts of people with ease.

Nick Lutke,  Community Affairs Coordinator – Nick is an actor and playwright who has worked with multiple companies around town.  He is enthusiastic about promoting the arts in an instrumental way, so he’s using his love of social media and writing to support the community and raise the standard of living in Tulsa.

Laura Skoch, Member at Large

Lewis Giles, Member at Large – Lewis is the webmaster for HTC. He spends most of his time behind the scenes, but loves a chance to get on stage as well.  He is a founding member of Oklahomans for Health and a Marine Corps veteran.

Heller Theatre Advisory Board 

Natasha Ball, Langdon Publishing, Tulsa Voice – Natasha Ball is a writer, editor, and journalist based in Tulsa. Natasha and her work, including her photography and her blog, TashaDoesTulsa.com, have appeared in more than a dozen Oklahoma publications. She enjoys pie, fish (the kind that bite), and long walks at the gun range.

Brian Young, Youth Services of Tulsa – Brian K. Young is a nonprofit marketing professional with expertise in strategic communications, public relations, and program management. Brian’s educational background includes organizational leadership, management, and cultural studies.

Sergeant Thomas Bell, Tulsa Police Department – Thom Bell is a long-time volunteer for multiple non-profit organizations in the Tulsa area. He has served in a leadership capacity as the Director of Education and Advocacy at Oklahomans for Equality, is on the State Board for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, and is an Advisor to the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice. Thom is a Sergeant with the Tulsa Police Department and is the head of the Information and Strategic Intelligence Team in TPD Headquarters.

Jeremy Kelly, Collins & Associates – Jeremy Kelly is a lifelong admirer and supporter of the arts.  A recent transplant from San Diego, he is excitedly looking forward to contributing to the theater scene in Tulsa.  Jeremy has a strong background in property management and budgeting reconciliation and is currently the Assistant Property Manager at Central Park Condos Downtown.

Judge Mark Barcus, Tulsa County – Mark Barcus is a Tulsa County District Judge and a former Member of the Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education. A graduate of Booker T Washington High School, Mark has a degree in Theater and Political Science from Austin College and a law degree from the University of Texas. He is the Immediate Past President of the Board for the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa and works with numerous arts and literary organizations.

George Nelson – George is an attorney in Tulsa. He has served on the boards of Heller Theatre and Theatre Tulsa. George has been involved in community theatre since he stepped onto the Heller stage over 15 years ago. He looks forward to being of some assistance in keeping the Heller Theatre name alive by producing the best quality theatre while providing opportunities to local artists.
